Today's Japanese people are certainly partially descended from Korean migrants, though they are thoroughly blended into the nation's people and not identified. There is today, however, a significant minority of ethnic Koreans living in Japan without Japanese citizenship. These people are mainly descendants of those brought to Japan during the colonial times from 1910 to 1945.
Japan is an archipelago consisting of over 3000 islands, including the 4 main islands of Honshu, Kyushu, Shikoku, and Hokkaido. Its total land area is 377,873 km², roughly 1/10 these size of the United States. Japan's population is approximately 128 million.
Korea is no longer a state, but the Korea Peninsula is shared between two states, South Korea and North Korea. It's total land area is 220,186 km², and the combined population of both states is 72,014,000.
