Indonesia is an island country is Southeast Asia that is comprised of a whopping 17,508 islands! That includes every single minor island, some of which are little more than big stones out at sea. There are 6000 inhabited islands, with 5 major islands. Those 5 islands are Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan (the Indonesia controlled parts of Borneo, which is shared by Malaysia), New Guinea (the other part of which belongs to Papa New Guinea), and Sulawesi. Other well-known islands frequented by travellers are Bali and Lombok.
Indonesia has a population of 230 million people, making it the fourth most populous country in the world. It is 16th in terms of land area, with a total area of 1,919,440 square kilometers (741,050 sq mi).
