Bangkok BTS Map

Here you can find a Bangkok BTS map for your reference and trip preparation.

What is the Bangkok BTS system? It is the Skytrain system, meaning urban rapid transit system elevated above ground. BTS stands for Bangkok Transit System. There are only 2 lines and a total of 32 stations. There is the Sukhumvit line, and the Shilom line. They together have a daily ridership of 600,000 people.

The system, when it was originally being planned, was referred to as "Skytrain" because it was based on the Vancouver Skytrain system.

Here is a BTS Bangkok Map, which shows connection points with the Bangkok MRT system.

Here is another Bangkok Skytrain map, this one without MRT connections.

Map of Bangkok

Below you can find a useful map of Bangkok, a gigantic metropolis that you probably can`t navigate without a good map to help you get oriented.

Bangkok, Thailand is known in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, or just Krun Thep for short. Krun Thep means "City of Angels". It`s the capital and by far the largest city in Thailand with a city population of 12 million - and more than 14.5 million if we count the metropolitan area.

When you think of Southeast Asia, you probably think of poverty and third world conditions. And you most definitely still see pockets of that in Bangkok. But it is a city that has developed tremendously over recent decades and is a highly developed and modernizing city.

Bangkok has a tropical climate with two seasons: wet and dry. The rainy season lasts from May to October, and the dry season lasts from November through April. High temperatures are over 30 degrees throughout the year, with average lows over 20 throughout the year. Though during the wet season, cloud cover often provides temporary relief from the pounding heat of the sun. So the dry season can feel much hotter even though there is little difference in air temperature.

Maps of Luzon Philippines

The country Philippines consists of thousands of islands, but the largest and most economically prominant island is Luzon. It is one of the three major areas of Philippines (the other two being Mindanao and the Visayas), and it is the island on which Manila is located, as well as Qezon City which is the most populous city in the Philippines. The island's population of over 46 million people makes it the fourth most populous island in the world.

Luzon has a land area of 104,688 square kilometers. Volcanic activity is ever-present on Luzon.

Below are some Luzon island maps to print and make use of.

Cebu Island Maps

Cebu Island is one of the major islands of the Philippines. Along with some small peripheral islands, it forms Cebu Province. The island is also the central focal point and hub of the Visaya region of Philippines, with the provincial capital Cebu City serving as a major shipping port as well as port of ferry travel. To Cebu Island`s west lies Negoros island, and to its east lies Bohol and Leyte islands. Cebu is a long and narrow island, stretching 250 km from north to south, while being just 45 km wide.

As is evident from the Cebu Island maps below, most of the population lives in the coastal areas of the island. This is because of the mountainous terrain of the central areas of the island. The island`s total area is 4,468 square km, with a population of 3.6 million. But if we look at only the inhabitable coastal plain, then the population density becomes clearer. Driving along the coast of Cebu you encounter an almost endless stream of towns and villages. And Metro Cebu is a busy urban area with a population of 2.3 million.

Below are some Cebu Island maps.

Philippines Maps

The Republic of Philippines is a country located in Southeast Asia, in the western area of the Pacific Ocean. It lies just south of Taiwan, east of Vietnam, and northeast of Indonesia. It is an island nationarchipelago consisting of 7,107 islands and occupying 300,000 square km (116,000 square mi) of land area (including its territorial waters). Its total coastline stretches on for 36,289 km (22,549 mi)
making it one of the countries with the longest coastlines in the world.

There are three main regions of Philippines: Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao. The Luzon island group includes the island of Luzon itself (the seat of Manila, and one of the most important islands in Philippines) along with some nearby peripheral islands. The Visayas consists of a number of major islands including Cebu, Panay, Negros, Bohol, Leyte, and Samar. The Mindanao island group includes the island of Mindanau itself, the second largest island in the country, as well as nearby peripheral islands.

Map Of Jakarta

Jakarta is the capital city and largest city of Indonesia, and is also one of the largest cities in the world measured by population. If we use the entire urban conurbation as the unit of measure (meaning not just Jakarta, but the urban sprawl as far as it stretches) then Jakarta is second in population size only to Tokyo, Japan. The conurbation has a population of 21,800,000. Jakarta city itself has a population of 8,640,184. That doesn't make it a top 5 city in terms of population, but it is still amongst the top cities.

As you can imagine, Jakarta is huge and confusing and disorienting. It's important to know where you're going and how you're going to get there before you set out. A good map is essential. You can find a map of Jakarta below that is useful for your reference and basic planning. But I recommend you find a current and highly detailed map of Jakarta when you arrive in Indonesia.

Political Map Of Southeast Asia

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usThe Southeast Asia region is generally considered to consist of the following 11 countries: Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The island of Papua is geographically considered to be in Oceania, but part of the island belongs to Indonesia and is therefore politically considered part of Southeast Asia. Conversely, Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands are geographically located in Southeast Asia but since they belong to Australia, they are politically considered part of Oceania.

The two major areas of Southeast are 1) Mainland Southeast Asia (sometimes known as Indochina) where the dominant religion is Buddhism, with smaller Muslim and Christian
populations; and 2) Maritime Southeast Asia (also known as the Malay Archipelago), where the dominant religion is Islam, followed by Christianity (most notably in the Philippines). The people from the two sub-areas tend to look racially different, with the Mainland people having lighter skin and features comparable to Northeast Asians, while those in Maritime Southeast Asia tend to have darker skin and features more comparable to Polynesians. But there is some overlap, of course.

Here is a Southeast Asia region map showing all the countries in the area, and another political map of Southeast Asia showing country flags. I hope these are useful.

Philippines City Maps

Philippines is a very populous country, with a significant portion of the population residing in the urban centers. Here I've gathered some important Philippines City Maps for your use and convenience.

The largest city in Philippines is Quezon City with a population of 2,679,450, which is actually a part of metropolitan Manila. So effectively they, along with other cities in the area, form one urban area. I think of it as part of Manila.

Manila City itself has a population of 1,660,714 and is incredibly densely populated, with a population density of 43,079 people per square kilometer.

For city maps of Manila, please see this detailed street map of Manila.

This is Cebu City, with a population of 798,809.

Physical Maps of Southeast Asia

Southeast Asia is a subregion of the Asian continent. The classification generally includes the countries south of China, east of India, and north of Australia. Specifically: Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Southeast Asia consists of two main areas: the mainland connected to the Asian continent's main land mass (for example, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos). And a maritime region of islands (for example, much of Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Philippines, Indonesia, and East Timor).Southeast Asian wildlife in Indonesia.

The largest city in Southeast Asia is Jakarta, with a population of 8,699,600 and a metropolitan area of more than 23 million people. Close behind is Manila, Philippines, and Bangkok, Thailand.

Here are a couple of physical maps of Southeast Asia for you. The first is the best one I could find online. The second lacks some detail, but clearly shows major rivers and mountain peaks.

Detailed Street Map Of Manila

Metro Manila is a massive metrolpolis consisting of Manila City, the national capital; Quezon City, the nation's most populous city and former capital; and 14 other cities and municipalities. Metro Manila has a population of over 11 million. If the nearby suburbs in neighbouring provinces are included, then the greater Metro Manila conurbation has around 22 million people.

This extensive sprawl is well connected by its road network.

First for perspective, here's a simple printable map of Metro Manila with no roads shown.
