Istanbul is a gigantic metropolis that is both the largest city in Turkey, as well as an ancient historical city commonly referred to by its historical names Byzantium and Constantinople. The Istanbul metropolitan area has 13.26 million people, and if we include the Asian sections of the city, it is the third largest metropolitan area in Europe.

The city is bisected by the Bosphorus Strait, with the Western portion lying in Europe and the Eastern portion lying in Asia. Most of the places of historical and cultural interest lie on the European side while the Asian side is more residential and modern shopping districts.

Istanbul may not match your preconceptions of a Mediterranean or Middle Eastern city, with relatively cool to mild weather. Summers are warm, but with temperatures typically in the 20s, making truly hot weather a rarity. Winters are rather cold and frost and even snow are not uncommon. Temperatures in the heart of winter average around 4 degrees C, with temperatures commonly falling below freezing at night and in the early morning. Fall and Spring and mild and fairly wet. Don`t expect to see rolling sand dunes and camels in downtown Istanbul. Even if you consider Istanbul part of the Middle East (many Turks don`t), you would have to visit an entirely different part of the region to experience that.

Barcelona is a major city that travellers have been visiting for centuries. It is Spain`s second largest city, and the largest city of the region of Catalonia. Being founded more than 2000 years ago and having been an important city in Roman times, Barcelona is full of historical and archaeological treasures, architectural wonders, and cultural ambience.

Barcelona has become a much more modern city in recent times, especially since it hosted the Olympics in 1992. Since then infrastructure and public buildings have been upgraded so that now Barcelona looks much more like a 21st century city - yet it still holds all the old treasures it used to, just with less grubbiness.

Barcelona has a number of distinct districts, each of which house special sites and attractions.

Ciutat Vella is home to Barcelona`s old town.

Exiample is home to Barcelona`s Modernist quarter and nouveau buildings.

Sants-Montjuic is home to many museums, monuments, and festivals. It is popular with visitors.

Gracia is less touristy and is more of a modern area full of trendy young people.

Other areas include Sant Marti as well as the Inland Suburbs.

City Map Baghdad

With a population of over 7 million, Baghdad is the capital and largest city in Iraq. It is also the second largest city in the Middle East (after Tehran), and also the second largest city in the Arab world (after Cairo, Egypt).

The infamous Tigris River runs through the middle of the city. Baghdad has a basically hot desert climate, with summer high temperatures averaging in the 40s, and temperatures break 50 degrees fairly often. In the winter, the climate is milder with average highs of 15-16 degrees, and nighttime temperatures that average as low as 4 degrees centrigrade. On January 11th, 2008 snow fell in Baghdad. This is not common, but happens on rare occasions.

Of course Baghdad is now under American military administration, and keeps its headquarters in a 10 square km (4 square mile) fortified area called The Green Zone.

Philippines City Maps

Philippines is a very populous country, with a significant portion of the population residing in the urban centers. Here I've gathered some important Philippines City Maps for your use and convenience.

The largest city in Philippines is Quezon City with a population of 2,679,450, which is actually a part of metropolitan Manila. So effectively they, along with other cities in the area, form one urban area. I think of it as part of Manila.

Manila City itself has a population of 1,660,714 and is incredibly densely populated, with a population density of 43,079 people per square kilometer.

Kuwait City Street Map

Kuwait City is the capital city of Kuwait, an oil-rich Arab country in the Middle East, on the Persian Gulf. Kuwait City officially has a population of around 32,500 people, but in reality the city itself is just one small piece of a much greater urban area that collectively contains over 2 million people. If you look at the first map, you can see the various "suburbs" which are technically separate municipalities from the city center, but in practice function as one city.

The total area of the Kuwait City metro area is 200 km² (77.2 sq mi).

Jeddah City Maps

Jeddah is a city in western Saudi Arabia, on the Red Sea coast. It is the second largest city in Saudi Arabia after Riyadh, with a population of 3.4 million. The Jeddah municipality has 4.5 million residents.

Jeddah is located in Makkah Province (ie. Mecca), and those who join the Haaj pilgrimage often use Jeddah as their point of entrance into the country.

Geneva is the second most populous city in Switzerland with a population of 185,726, and the main city in Romandy - the French speaking area of Switzerland. With a total area of 15.86 km² (6.1 sq mi), it is not a terribly large city.

Geneva is the home of important international organizations like the Red Cross and the United Nations. Because of this and its historical importance as the place where the Geneva Conventions were finalized, it is a global symbol of human rights and progress.

Tokyo City Street Map

Tokyo is a huge metropolitan area. The 23 special wards of Tokyo prefecture (which are collectively considered to be Tokyo City proper)have a combined population of over 8.5 million, making it slightly more populous than New York City. Tokyo prefecture has a population of over 12 million, and the Greater Tokyo conurbation including the urban areas in neighbouring prefectures like Kanagawa and Chiba, has a population of over 35 million people. It is the most populous metropolitan area in the world.

This mammoth size can make Tokyo confusing to navigate, especially since the street name and address system is very different from what you may be used to. Hope this Tokyo City Street Map can help you get around without trouble.

Detailed Street Map Of Manila

Metro Manila is a massive metrolpolis consisting of Manila City, the national capital; Quezon City, the nation's most populous city and former capital; and 14 other cities and municipalities. Metro Manila has a population of over 11 million. If the nearby suburbs in neighbouring provinces are included, then the greater Metro Manila conurbation has around 22 million people.

This extensive sprawl is well connected by its road network.

Beirut is the capital and major city of Lebanon, an Arabic nation in the Middle East, bordering Israel to the south and Syria to the north and east. It has a population of 2.1 million in the metro area, and consists of different ethnic/religious neighbourhoods, including Christian, Muslim, and Druze areas, as well as 4 recognized Palestinian refugee camps.

Beirut is one of the cultural and economic centers of the Arab world, though that status has been harmed by a devastating Lebanese civil war and war with Israel.
