Black Sea Map

The Black Sea is a body of water surrounding by land in Europe, Anatolia, and the Caucasus regions. Even though it is an inland sea, it does have a connection to the Mediterranean Sea and Aegean Sea through some straits. Another strait connects it to the Sea of Azov. That strait is called the Strait of Kerch. The countries that border the sea are Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Georgia, Russia, and Ukraine. There is also the breakaway state of Abkhazia, which considers itself independent but most of the world considers part of Georgia.

Because of the Black Sea`s important location, right between a number of strategically, economically, and politically important areas, it was an important crossroads in ancient times. Archaeological evidence shows very early settlement and trade in the area. For example, the oldest processed gold in the world was found in the area.

The surface area of the Black Sea is 436,000 square km, or 168,500 square miles.

Below you may find a Black Sea map for your reference.

Mediterranean Sea Map

The Mediterranean Sea is a a sea lying between North Africa to the south, and Europe to the north. Its eastern shores also border Western Asia (also known as the Middle East). It is often technically considered to be part of the Atlantic Ocean, but most people think of it in practical terms as a separate entity.

The Mediterranean has a surface area of approximately 2,500,000 square km - ot 970,000 square miles.

The climate of the region is typically hot dry summers, and mild rainy winters, without much of a distinct autumn or spring.

There are 21 countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, including Turkey, Greece, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Malta, Italy, Monaco, France, Spain, Cyprus, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco. The Gaza Strip also borders the sea but is not fully sovereign. Some territories also border it, specifically Gibraltar (UK), Ceuta and Melilla (Spain), and Akrotiri and Dhekelia (UK).

Forbes has a very nice interactive map showing migration within the USA. Click on any county and you can see where people are coming from (in blue) and where they are leaving for (in red.) Hover over a county to get the specific numbers. Clicking the year under the bar chart will give you the figures from that year.

Data is from the IRS and a more detailed description can be found here. You can see the effects of the housing bubble when comparing 2005 to 2009 in certain cities, especially Las Vegas which went from mostly blue to an almost even split. The per capita income figures are also shown for each county. This shows that many cities and other areas are exporting wealth and importing poverty. Click the map above and explore.

Munich Metro Map

The Munich Metro system consists of two systems, the U Bahn and the S Bahn. The U Bahn stands for Untergrundbahn, meaning "subway" in German. S Bahn, on the other hand, stands for Schnellbahn, meaning suburban express train. These are trains that venture out of Munich into the residential bed communities of Munich. The two networks are interconnected in real terms, though technically separate systems.

This map below is a Munich S Bahn map that also shows the U Bahn.

With a population of 1.35 million, Munich is the third largest city in Germany, after Berlin and Hamburg. It is the regional capital of Bavaria, located in southeastern Germany. It is known as München in German, a name that`s hard to pronounce for English speakers!

Munich is a popular city rated highly by expatriates. One of the things that makes it so liveable is its vast amounts of green space. Englischer Garten, near central Munich, is one of the world`s largest parks inside a city. It is even bigger than Central Park in New York City, with an area of 3.7 square km.

The city has a fairly mild continental climate, with warm but comfortable summers and moderately cold winters with lows below 0. Because it is so close to the Alps and it is at a fairly high altitude, it gets a lot of precipitation, with typically 10 or so days a month seeing precipitation.

The city is a port city situated on a peninsula, with the North Sea to the west and the Baltic Sea to the east. The city exists the spot where the Rver Elbe, and the Alster and Bille, come together.

The city experiences an Oceanic climate, with mild weather and rare snowfall. Berlin Wall Map

Below you can find a Berlin Wall map

At the end of World War II Berlin, the capital of Germany, was divided into four occupation zones, just as the entire country of Germany was. The Western countries` occupation zones (American, French, and British) were separated from the Russian occupation zone (East Berlin) by the Berlin Wall. The wall also encircled the Western section of the city to separate it from East Germany, making West Berlin a Western enclave inside East Germany. This meant that at times the only access to West Berlin was via the air.

The Berlin Wall was torn down in 1989 as the result of a non-violent revolution. Berlin and all of Germany were soon reunited afterwards.

Berlin Metro Map

You can find a good Berlin Subway map and metro map down below

The Berlin U-Bahn is the name of the subway metro system in Germany`s capital city Berlin. The "U" in U-Bahn comes from the word "Underground" which is typically how subways are referred to in Europe. The U-Bahn Berlin Metro began in 1902, and has grown to its present size with 173 stations located on 10 subway lines. Just look at the Berlin U Bahn map, it`s gigantic. Most of the system is found underground.

The U-Bahn is a perfect example of German efficiency in action, with trains every 2 to 5 minutes during the peak rush hours, and every 5 minutes even during the non-peak hours of the daytime, and every 10 minutes at night. Approximately 496 million passengers ride the U-Bahn in a given year. It is therefore the busiest metro system in Germany and one of the biggest in Europe.

Frankfurt Airport Map

The Frankfurt airport map files are down at the bottom

Frankfurt airport is a gigantic international airport located in Frankfurt, Germany. It is the busiest airport in Germany, the third busiest in Europe after London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. It is the ninth busiest airport in the world. Frankfurt city is not the largest city in Germany, it is in fact only the fifth largest city. But the airport has carved out a niche as an international transit hub, with countless international passengers transiting through Frankfurt. I myself have been to Frankfurt airport numerous times though I have never been to Frankfurt city. The airport serves 298 destinations in 110 countries, and carried 53 million passengers in 2010.

Despite the fact that Frankfurt city is not a massive city, the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main metropolitan region is the second largest in the country. And its central location in a densely populated megalopolis (basically an ongoing belt of cities and towns that blend into each other for a very long distance) means that numerous other metropolitan areas are within driving distance. Cologne, for example, is around 2 hours away by car, as are the Ruhr Area and Stuttgart.

Nice France Map

Look down below to find a Nice France map to aid you in your travels

Nice is a city in the southeastern part of France, in the Provence region and in the vicinity of Italy and Monaco. It is the fifth largest city in France with a city population of 348,721 and a metropolitan population of around 955,000. It is thought to be one of the oldest places of human inhabitance in Europe.

The climate of Nice is, as you may expect, a typical Mediterranean climate with a long, warm, and dry summer that lasts as long as six months. The winters are wet and mild, certainly not beach weather most of the time, but pleasant and comfortable.

One of the most famous attractions in Nice is the Promenade des Anglais. The promenade was built by beggars who migrated to Nice to avoid a harsh winter up north. The English vacationers in Nice employed these beggars to build the promenade along the waterfront.

Black Forest Germany Map

A Black Forest Germany Map of two can be found down at the bottom of the page.

The Black Forest is wooded mountainous area, in southwestern Germany, in the region of Baden-Württemberg. The Rhine Valley lies to the west and to the south. The area has a land mass of 12,000 square km, or 4,600 square miles, stretching 200 km or 120 miles in length, and being approximately 60 km or 37 miles in width.

The area is referred to as the Black Forest because of the dense presence of conifers that block the sun out of the forest for the most part, creating an eery dark effect. The Romans were the first to give it its name, calling it Silva Nigra which means "Black Forest" in Latin.

Native American Industry

Thanksgiving is a time to travel, shop, cook, watch the Cowboys lose and argue with your relatives. It is also a time to honor those who were here before we took their land. We may think of Native Americans in simplistic cliches, but the interior cultures had an extensive network of production and trade called the Hopewell Exchange System.

This map shows the extent of trade among the different cultures that flourished from about 200 BC to about 500 AD (or CE.) The map's author, Hieronymous Rowe has numerous maps of Native American culture on Wikipedia.

A few centuries later, members of the Mississippian Culture began quarrying chert, a stone used to make tools and ceremonial objects. The raw material was dug up and transported to nearby settlements to be made into hoes, spades and other tools. Here is Rowe's map of the production sites at Mill Creek, Illinois.

Tools were then traded extensively as seen here.

And you thought they only made turkeys and yams!

Map of Paris France

Do you need a map of Paris France? You can choose one down below.

Paris, France is the large city in the country as well as its capital city. The city itself has a population of 2,211,297 people, but if you include the entire metropolitan area the population rises to 12,089,098, making it a huge metropolis indeed. Paris is one of those cities where you can explore forever and still have lots of new things to discover.

Paris was the largest city in the world between the 16th and 19th centuries, and was the largest in the Western World for around one thousand years.

Over the course of a year, Paris can be said to have a mild oceanic climate, with pleasantly warm summers. In the winters, clear and sunny weather is uncommon, and daytime temperatures are generally above freezing but night time temperatures can drop below zero resulting in frost, and the occasionally light dusting of snow.

This Paris France map is rather huge and detailed. With this you should definitely be able to find your way around.
