What is the Bangkok BTS system? It is the Skytrain system, meaning urban rapid transit system elevated above ground. BTS stands for Bangkok Transit System. There are only 2 lines and a total of 32 stations. There is the Sukhumvit line, and the Shilom line. They together have a daily ridership of 600,000 people.
The system, when it was originally being planned, was referred to as "Skytrain" because it was based on the Vancouver Skytrain system.
